Where's world economy headed?

With time, a few people at the top learn how to manipulate the econonmic system to their advantage. The result is that all the money flows in their direction. Unfortunately, it becomes stupid money: it is used for bidding up the stock market or building 29 bedroom mansions instead of working for the common good, and the system has to break down, as the majority are deprived of the opportunity to participate in the economy. The cure: a "great depression, a French revolution or whatever you find if you go far enough back in history. Let's see what we get this time around
